BUT THE KITCHEN SINK

Edinburgh College of Art Degree Show, 2018

BUT THE KITCHEN SINK was the piece I created for my degree show. It depicted half a life-size kitchen and was made almost entirely out of cardboard, which was held together by papier maché and then painted. The piece explores the concept of materiality, and our day-to-day relationship with materials and "stuff". By changing the materials of things we encounter every day, we begin to question our daily experiences and become more aware of our surroundings. A sink that has clay handles and a cardboard basin suddenly becomes something intriguing, rather than something "normal".
